I’ve read the Bible, it doesn’t take away the fact it was likely changed at some point. My belief that God is a loving God more than he is a jealous hateful God will probably suit me fine. There’s so many contradictions and parables in the Bible that it’s hard to imagine Man didn’t write some of it or add to it for their own agenda. Also, you don’t know if that actually is a fact or not, you’re stating that everything the Bible says and or the way the church interpreted what it says is a fact. The part where you told her if her daughter doesn’t know Christ, she’s doomed, like you are some noble know it all, that’s where the issue lies, and that’s what people are sick of hearing. Also, why would Christ be the only way to the father? I’m pretty sure he can hear us calling out his name too. And what about the people in 3rd world nations or remote tribes that have never heard of Christianity? It seems odd and cruel that they should suffer. There’s many things that just don’t add up coming from a truly loving God which I believe he is.
The church is all about control and believers use "faith" as a weapon against their neighbors. I finally told my Bro I didn't want to talk to him anymore if he keeps shoving down my throat, "Do YOU know where you're going?" He uses the bible to justify his language towards me. Many believers do this.
I find it hard to believe you read the entire Bible and still talk like this. Have you read the entire Bible? Have you been to study groups that explain it?
Nothing to clarify lmao, I grew up in church and I’ve read the Bible atleast twice. The more I read it the less it makes sense that an all knowing loving God would be the person to send someone to hell simply for living a life that HE gave us. Cold blooded murderers and Satan worshippers? Sure, but normal everyday people that don’t worship him will all of their heart? Doubtful. Why would I want to go to a study group to explain anything? Have you looked into ancient txt that say a lot of the same things our bibles say but was written long before the books of our Bible?
Why would one be doomed without Christ when there is also a God? Doesn’t seem to make sense. So people that have never heard of of Christianity are doomed? Odd considering Jesus was not even a Christian… I know what Christianity is, but it still stands to reason that everyone that did not follow him were doomed? Weird
Christ came to reconcile us back to the Father, you should look into why Christ needed to be the ultimate sacrifice for mankind, why the spiritual war is so important. God speed.
Yeah, even that is odd to me. If he is the God that he is supposed to be, and I do believe he is, why would he need any sacrifice at all? It seems that it would be pretty easy for him to just do it. Why the need for all of this symbolism?
Likely? I laughed when I read that. If you read the history of the Bible you'll know that it was cobbled together from several different manuscripts - some detailing the horrors of the "Elohim" rulers of the time. Those manuscripts were translated and translated again (mistranslated in many cases). Also word meanings changed over centuries. And the whole lot was rewritten, edited and redacted by various committees with political agendas. And, finally, many people need a priest or other "expert" to interpret it.
That said, The Bible has a lot of useful stuff and if you choose to live your life according to the sensible parts ("love thy neighbor," etc.) then you'll do fine. But if you believe that God and/or Jesus personally wrote The Bible, then I can only sympathize.
Yeah, I was being nice in that regard, of course it changed. Over all like you say, the teachings are still very valuable and very important in my opinion.

Yep, it’s very annoying. Like do you really think I have to be in church on sundays to go to heaven? Like God actually would even care about that lmao
Can you clarify please?

Also, I’m just speaking about normal ole Baptist church that I grew up in, Catholicism is a whole different nightmare lmao
You’re correct, without Christ one is doomed.
Wow! That's not for you to judge or sling an arrow at your neighbor on here Fren. This is one reason why people stay away from "Christians".
