Would the necessary outcome be a cessation of contrails? Not in the least. The necessary outcome would BE contrails...unless you can figure out how to get turbine engines to burn powdered coal. I take it for a predictable fact that the "anti-geoengineering" critics would not be happy with the continued existence of persistent contrails. What then? Finally admit that contrails have nothing to do with spraying?

The vapor always forms ice crystals. They never descend, and can only sublimate over time. At high altitude, they are persistent, exactly like the clouds at high altitude---because they ARE clouds at high altitude.
"Chessboard" patterns are not regular; they are criss-cross. And they are the natural result of the high level of air traffic---planes going in various directions, all day long.
