There is and never will be an 'intergalic' alien threat! It's just the culmination of there made up world! A 'Hail Mary' of sorts, for a lack of a better term. Even a famous, Republican president, once said that an alien threat would unite the world, like it has never been seen! I believe when people understand what was happening in Haiti, the world will be united!
Going with the ideas that high technological prowess is indistinguishable from magic, the HYPOTHESIS that the Bible contains a lot of "Beam me up Scotty" content is quite interesting.
Of course, should such an HYPOTHESIS proof to be factual, well, it would upend quite a number of minds who are so sure about their mental position.
Beside the old stories, at least in the biblical form that we are being given, there are too many stories related to the same technological ooparts to be ignored, and, I should say, perhaps, to be differently viewed.
I am often reminded of these primitive people from the Pacific Islands: the Cargo Cult-people. They are very good at copy paste of modern technology in a form that is totally non-functional. They are able to construct the appearance of a radio, but of course it won't work.
Where have we built our telescopes? On top of mountains? If a people were ever to copy paste it, without having the inner technology, how would a copy paste look like?
If regressive thinking might explain certain leftovers around the world quite well, what would progressive thinking do? That is far more difficult, but not something that is out of the ordinary.
Stories written by Jules Verne already show, that progressive thinking, or science fiction is an interesting form of romance. However, closed mindedness has always stood as a hindrance to creativity.
So, before rejecting things out of hand, remaining open to the possibility and thinking about ways to investigate such possibilities, are the first steps in technological advance.
I will also admit that the number of big nose here is quite apparent. And that this in and of itself is a reason to be suspicious, because what he proposes leaves something out: the question whether it is a return .....
