No matter what you hear he was a bad dude. He killed his political enemies by firing squad and other means, without trial.
He killed innocents.
He was a rebel leader setup by the deep state.
He did eliminate some bad guys along the way.
By no means is this an "enemy of my enemy is my friend" situation.
Saddam wanted gold for his oil instead of US dollar so they made him look bad and set him up to be killed. They hung him on live television to say to the rest of the world “this is what happens when you disobey OPEC”.
He's a bad dude by our standards in the west. But he was the only kind of man that can keep a violent religion and deep tribal divisions under control.
Traitors were boiled alive in hot oil....
With the BS we have going on here, we claim Saddam is a bad dude. Please, spare me.

Was his enemies our enemies?

I can respect that. I'd acknowledge he kept a lot of crazy in check.
Sure he was a bad guy but at least he didn’t insult us by refusing the CIAs money
Not saying he wasn't bad. Who do/did the people in Iraq think was worse...him or the dude that said they have "weapons of mass destruction?"
