We are seeing regular citizens (in all countries), along with governmnet leaders, doing insane things, saying crazy things and doing even worse things. We like to catagorize this as good vs evil, or right vs wrong, or insane vs rational... but it must be something more than such a simple analysis.
On a broader scale, the entire world seems to be approaching an "inflection point" or a point of no return, or some sort of universal paradigm shift. But at my end of the day analysis, we have a large contingency of people that are favoring human destruction and fear over harmony, peace and love. Why? What is causing it? Anybody's guess... but no explanation seems adequate to explain it.
Many of us, who consider ourselves rational, sane human beings, are not capable of empathy because we can't imagine in our own minds what is driving these people into such insane thoughts, positions and actions. This leaves us frustrated and can lead us to feel quite desperate... which might just be their endgame.
This leads us to a profound question: How do we fix this? I am sure I am not alone when I felt the need to exterminate them all. Kill them. Get them out of the planet's way! But in thinking such a thought then realize in doing so, I am turning into the very demeanor I am seeing in them and fighting against! So that doesn't work. In contrast, loving them just lends them permission to continue. So that doesn't work either.
So, many turn to the ultimate solution. Jesus will show up. Aliens will come in. Allah will correct the course. A global military will take control. Somebody, something, some entity will come and save us. That seems like "hopium" on steroids to me. It also places immense power into the hands of a few... which is sort of how we got to where we are now. So, I don't think that is the solution.
Free will is the ultimate weapon given to every soul on the planet. We don't use it wisely due to fear... and mainly fear of death. So, I suggest this profound consideration to eliminate this "fear" obstacle. Consider this, the soul is eternal. You cannot die. Fear of death is a man-made construct. It is, in fact, one aspect of our life-cycle guaranteed at birth. We will die. No exceptions. We only lose our current body-suit. We cannot die. Fear is absolutely not necessary... yet it remains universal.
Once we lose our fear and become fearless, only then can we proceed and shift this paradigm. To illustrate my point... if we all demanded peace, peace would happen. If we demanded everyone on the planet be fed before any other use of wealth... everyone would be fed.
All that to say this, it is time everyone on this planet reduced their priorities to a short list of what is of most, absolute importance. We create a new chart of the old "Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs" to a new, more accurate version. We then set aside all (and I mean everything) else until these top, universally agreed needs are met. The entire planet's resources and wealth immediately turned towards addressing these priorities before anything else is addressed. Does this sound impossible to you? Well, it isn't.
I am not a star seed. I am not even that smart. But I am sure what I state is true. We can build a world based on harmony, compassion and love... we just haven't (YET)... but I believe it is time we did.
Society-wide lunacy is not an unusual event. It will blow over, but we have to ensure our own survival until that happens. There are several forms of mass psychosis being induced simultaneously, which makes the matter worse = Climate Change, multiple pandemics of synthetic and normal diseases, over population despite improving state of most countries, unjust wars for spurious reasons. Forced panic over minor events coming at unusually anxious people on a daily basis ensure that mass psychosis is easy to induce.

...my two cents.
