Gatway Pundit a little slow on this story it seems.

In my area, we have not seen any flights impacted by ash. A huge portion of our goods for sale come up the Alaska Highway or by barge from Seattle. But we have had thousands of people camping here during "dipnetting season", when Alaskans can net salmon from the rivers. And there have been a record number of fish in the Kenai river this year. All of that could be impacting grocery stores, even though dipnetting ended August 31. Sport fishing is still going strong. I'm ready for everyone to go home!
Good deal, now when the sign says no trucks in left lane, there should be fewer trucks slowing us down in that lane. Some will still ignore the signs at the risk of a ticket, but, I’m sure it will help.
This is such a good thing.

That must be why the grocery store has almost no produce these last few weeks.
Actually, this is more likely due to Ash Advisories impacting flights into Alaska after the 8.8 earthquake.
Check Anchorage Volcanic Ash Advisory Center

They couldn't read the signs if they didn't speak/read English.
Exactly!👍
We drove in Greece once. With their traffic circles, unintelligible writing, and sassy drivers - yeah, it was perilous.
It's nice having a real Transportation Secretary for a change. His predecessor was useless!
