Good point. I think the topic of a 3rd term for Trump is being brought up ever so often so that the term limits gets addressed in the future in that it might be brought before the Supreme Court to rule. It seems inequitable that the legislative and judicial have no limits to years of service and yet the executive does, even though POTUS is the only elected position that is voted on by the entire nation.
Have the congress critters been limited as to the number of terms they can serve? No, if they win the election they get to serve another term. Are the justices limited to the number of years they can serve? No, they either step down voluntarily or die while in office. The branches are supposed to be equal and separate. Limiting the elected official of the executive branch is not equal. Up until FDR, the president could serve unlimited number of terms as long as he/she was elected to the position. Or did you not know that FDR served 4 consecutive terms?
So either the Congress critters, who EACH serve INDIVIDUAL terms need term limits and the INDIVIDUAL justices need to be limited to the number of years served OR the executive branch gets unlimited terms LIKE IT USED TO BE in the Constitution. Amendments can be removed just like they were added.
