I've always heard it's 'Clearing out the dead wood'. It's a bowling term. When pins fall and lay in the lane you need to push the button to sweep them into the alley. You push the button and the machine grabs the standing pins and lifts them and the sweeper swings across the lane and pushed the 'deadwood' (pins knocked over) into the alley. Then the machine puts the pins back and the game continues. It's also used during layoffs.

Some on Twitter are theorizing Swift is a standin for Hillary. So what would JC be up to 15 years ago? 2010ish? Looks like he went to Bridgewater then, but just prior to that had pushed for a SC appointment.
I kinda prefer this interpretation of the video as a sort of "defensive posture"/"stand down" message. In the video he encourages the audience to not let Trump get to them, to not be "snarky" or rude, etc.
Basically the cabal feels bullied by Trump and needs to stick together, weather the storm, hold its tongue, wait for a chance to rebuild. He's still a fan of Hillary/Swift.
Maybe cabal still feels like it has operational agency and Corney is warning them that agency is illusory and "unhappiness" will continue if they continue operations?
