That's not the same as saying 'we're all responsible for all', especially in light of what I'm pointing out with the other post. If you really look into Catholic Social Doctrine and how they use the term 'the common good' you will find some peculiar things.
I posit they were the first Communist entity, though they qualify it with a moral element, unlike the secular variant. This moral element is (of course) defined by them, and the people are to obey and part with their property 'as needed'.

Or did I miss the part where Jesus says "Taketh thy wealth, store it away, and looketh at it as a miser would vieweth his gold. And whatever you do, never help your neighbor."
We are also called upon to be prudent (so as not to waste charitable giving).
But what the heck -- let's equate 'being charitable' with 'Communism'.
You seem to be missing the point. What I am saying is there is a foreign government which holds to the belief that it is up to them to decide what your charitable acts are to be. I don't dispute anything Jesus said.
I'm not missing the point -- but perhaps I'm missing the part where the quote you posted comes from a 'foreign government' -- and where it's 'up to them' to decide.
Read the quote that is embedded in your post, and tell me that you can't hear JESUS saying those exact words.
We are not to have 'vague compassion', but to actively help others. That is what love is (the Greek word 'agape', or 'wanting the highest good for the other'). It is exactly what Jesus teaches.
God loveth a cheerful giver. I can fogure out where to give without a priest. After all as a believer I have holy spirit and can talk to amd hear Gods voice myself.
