I was happy to see it come. I love storms and this was the first real one I have gotten at my home this summer. Now I say that having not yet walked outside to assess the damage.
Also, can I just say I am ecstatic that I didnt hear anyone call it a damn haboob yesterday
My somali coworkers bust out laughing if someone calls any US weather phenomenon an arabic word (someone called a hurricane a monsoon, basically the name for cyclones in the Arab world, and they thought it was the funniest thing ever). They recognize that the US is it's own distinct nation and culture. I'm 90% sure they are the tiny minority though.

I live in a desert. I dont know a single desert dwelling Arizonan that doesn't enjoy the rain.
Now to be clear usually behind the duststorm is the rain.
