he had more than one demon. when the torment gets to the level of death/murder/suicide, you have several tormenting spirits acting in concert continually. persons under this level of manifestation are very easy to spot by those with a discerning eye. apparently no one had that knowledge in that community. you need to be able to both discern and know how to defeat that spiritual enemy. not many christians are able.
