This was great! I was the guy that came up with the HITRON program where Coast Guard snipers in helicopters would shoot out the boat engines on the drug boats. This is much better.
Cool, so you were in CG?
No I was a contractor on the Coast Guard Deepwater Program. I did the vision, philosophy, communications and several other things, but I was responsible for the air portion. Company leadership changed out our leadership team that the CG loved for the favored children and we lost the build portion. The CG got screwed in the air portion and one of the ships.
As a fighter pilot mission commander, I used to keep several dozen aircraft in my mind at almost all times. But I actually taught myself how to expand my mind to take in hundreds of air and sea assets into my mind and optimize their total mission capability for the Deepwater Program. AIS was a key component that I came up with that survived and got implemented. ADS-B was inspired by AIS and was implemented for aircraft. That is why you can see everything on Monkey Werx. There are similar web pages for sea traffic. You would be surprised at all the traffic.
I have looked at Marine Tracker sites before. It amazes me the amount of Marine Traffic that exist, particularly the traffic that show with ships up in rivers.
I remember during Trump’s first term when we had no place to put oil. They would literally pay you to take it. And there were lots of oil tankers stacked up in the middle of the Atlantic.
We had a company boat delivered from Europe and I watched it the whole way.
