The problem most people that play chess would raise is that if you imprison the parents then the child is left without anyone to parent them.

This is where discouraging through the judicial system comes into play. I'm really starting to think that China's limitation on pregnancies wasn't such a terrible idea.... BUT we should do it for different reasons.

If we continue having people like octomom and welfare dependents with 6 baby daddies demand taxes be paid for their misbehavior then we will never escape this type of society. The kids of these families will grow up with the idea that this is ok because "i was raised in a family like this."

My own mother was on food stamps for a while when we were kids. I remember her crying about it because of the shame she felt having to get help for what she couldn't afford. You know what the difference was? She worked long hours and made as much money as she was able to make.

I blame this mostly on my dad for not doing what was necessary to keep the family together.... and then not paying child support after the family split.

People would have less children if there were severe consequences for bad parenting..... and we would have higher quality children in our society that would grow into productive citizens. That's my short sided view of things anyway.

I never went to college and now make in the top 5% of salaries in the USA by myself.... and that's comparing to household salary w/ 2 working adults. I'm blessed and I attribute it mostly to being raised by a parent that cared about whether or not I turned out to be a scum bag or not. Mom had to understand what was scumbag behavior or not to be able to raise me that way though.

If you're a smooth brain with 8 kids then there is no chance the kids will learn on their own how to behave properly in society.
