Back when I knew EVERYTHING about my neighborhood, who was who, what they did, who drove what, who didn't mow their lawn, the fastest way to get from one place to another etc etc.
High sensory perception and observation skills+ street smarts. There was NO WAY I was getting "ducted" by some perv....it was impossible - even if I was on my bike miles away. Complete situational awareness.
Now I can acknowledge through age and clown world phuckery that I'm nowhere near as aware... even though I talk to my neighbors, there's plenty who don't even know their neighbors names... situational awareness is shit now.
Yo - We're riding up to Sev after Rob patches the tube in his front tire. You comin??? Bring quarters...I heard they just got Spy Hunter and Altered Beast. Matt's gonna hog the pinball machine anyway...
I lived in a small town in a red state. Didn't worry about that at all, since it was unheard of in my small town. Used to ride bikes and goof around all over the neighborhood till midnight w/ frens during the summer. I remember we'd kick the base of the light polls which would shut off the light for a few minutes, kek, we were trouble makers. Those were the days.
Reminds me of a show called Stranger Things. Very nostalgic for those growing up in the 80s.
