Luckily there are still a few schools that teach it a bit in elementary. Unfortunately it is only the basics. I have been working with my children to learn how to read & write cursive.

The school my children attend make it clear that the youth need to at least be exposed to cursive so they can understand historical documents in their original edition.

I am still working with them on teaching all children how to write their print with cursive tails so that they can more easily learn to write it correctly in cursive. My youngest has such a hard time because the teachers never taught any writing techniques.

I remember spending at least 3 days during first grade writing every single letter in a semi cursive manner. Two per letter & we moved on to the next. Writing & practicing proper writing habits so that cursive would be easy by 4th grade. Once we got through Z we started all over to make sure we spend a full day on each letter doing it the correct way to make cursive easier later on.
