There are people grieving for Charlie Kirk, A hero died a senseless death today at the hands of a criminal enterprise that dropped the veneer of morality a long time ago.
The responses have ranged from grief for Charlie, to anger at the democratic party, the left, etc. in general because of their blasé attitude or outright celebration of assassination.
But there is a third group. The ones who say that there will be retribution. There will be violence. That the gloves are off and this is a Civil War now.
Those people, avoid them. Because here's the thing, if we stoop to their level and burn, loot, and murder, we are no better than them. We give them an excuse to say "See? Alt Right is violent". We give the Cabal an excuse to crack down, to deploy the UN. We desecrate everything that Charlie Kirk stood for.
Charlie Kirk stood for rational debate, for common sense. For us to take to the streets and enact mob justice, we might as well be shooting him now.
Charlie died a hero. To wage jihad in his name would be an insult to his memory.
Correct anon.
Christ is the example of this. He rebuked Simon Peter who cut off the ear of a soldier who was arresting Him, saying "Put your sword back in its place, for all who draw the sword will die by the sword" (Matthew 26:52). Our Lord Himself, facing unjust arrest and execution, rejected violence as the solution.
Charlie Kirk advocated for truth through discourse and reason, the very antithesis of mob violence.
The system wants us to riot. Don't give it to them. Grieve properly. Organize politically. Expose the truth. Win through the system they're trying to destroy. That's how we truly honor Charlie - by winning the war of ideas by making them the monsters they accuse us of being.
Our strength has always been in our commitment to truth and order, not mob justice. The best revenge is building through lawful, political means that preserve our moral high ground.
Jesus also flipped tables and wielded a whip. There's a point we all don't want to get to. But sometimes, it's inevitable.
That is true.
Christ did whip (in the air) at the powerful brokers of corruption, intimidating them like a righteous force, against those who corrupted sacred space for personal gain. But we need to remember that was a very specific response to corruption in a very specific (holy) place.
But he didn't assault them or take their life or ruin their property. His goal was justice, and yes, sometimes, that requires a whip.
We have to use discernment to be as wise as serpents and gentle as doves.
Voted Up, Have no clue about downvotes. Maybe they are clueless.
Jesus flipped tables on his own property, where guests in his house were desecrating the purpose both by ignoring basic functions and purposes, but further by trading in fraudulent goods at extortion prices to people who couldn’t afford it, while having unclean hearts, and obstructing the purpose of the sacrifices from the people, which was repentance toward God.
Just to add some context.
Hebrews 4:15 reminds us: “We do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet He did not sin.”
That's because righteous judgment is not sin.
That was jesus's house that he chased people out of. He was protecting his own property.
He later came back in judgment on the clouds and destroyed the entire city and Temple in 70 AD.
That wasn't sin either. It was righteous judgment
I do not disagree. A lot of people think they are feeling righteous anger right now and I think they're wrong.
Whips are not (at least the way Jesus used it) lethal. And, one could make the case for Castle Doctrine , in that the only place He ever did that was at the Temple, which He considered His Father's House.
(Mar 11:15–19; Luk 19:45–48; Jhn 2:13–22 ) All four Gospels have this recorded.
You wouldn't think there would be a song about this, but ApologetiX, A Christian Parody Band , managed it! (To the tune of the Eurythmic's Sweet Dreams. no less!) So without further ado, here it is:
