While I understand the desire for retribution, when people act and speak like unthinking fools and celebrate the death of anyone with an opposing view, I feel that this is suppressing freedom of speech. It makes us no better than those, who have acted like idiots. You can’t change anyone’s moral compass, that comes from within or with maturity and life experiences. Instead we need to pity their immaturity and callousness because in the end what goes around, comes around. It might not be tomorrow, but it will happen. And when that person suffers a loss, or encounters a devastating illness, handicap, injury to themself or a loved one, they will know how much grief Charlie’s wife, children, family, friends, and all those impacted by Charlie felt. It is never okay to celebrate a murder, assassination, debilitating injury. How one responds reveals a person’s character.
