The support or opposition of a person or group is whether the ideologies in question align with the left's overarching agenda. Which is:

They hate humanity and want to destroy it.

Kirk was pro human, pro peace, pro truth and pro God and so on.

Palestinians, namely Islam and in particular radical Islam, have tendencies which oppose Christianity and all the things Kirk promoted. They also oppose Jews. Which, the left now oppose also. At least part of the left.

Eventually at some point the left will oppose Islam because it is at its core a religion which also cannot be allowed. Christianity is just first on the list because it offends them the most.
