Gunman tried to ambush deputies responding to a call near the Atascocita area | Here's what happened
A Harris County man armed with a rifle was arrested after allegedly firing at deputies near Atascocita. Sheriff Ed Gonzalez says no deputies were hurt.
Gunman booked on aggravated assault? Why not attempted murder?
Probably charges will be upgraded. Need to have a means to keep him in jail while sorting things out... so placeholder charges that can be proven beyond a doubt for now.
Great F#cking question. Tons of ammo. He wasn't there to do "mostly peaceful" stuff.
Why not lying in wait too?
He set up near the Taco Flores restaurant on FM1960. Good family owned restaurant by the way. The Mexican food is authentic and really well made.
Anyway, the parking lot has heavy woods behind it, sort of a crummy dirt road running through it that's rutted enough to knock the alignment out of any regular car, but passable for pickups. That area is sort of middle grounds. To the East are nice upscale suburban neighborhoods. To the West of it is Humble, Tx and a lot of lower wage housing and apartments, very heavily Hispanic.
Someone could call Gov. Abbott's office, or Tx Attn Gen Ken Paxton.
If the black clad guy had ANY ties to Antifa (possible)... then you can add Domestic Terrorist to his resume, and he can become the example for the nation.
If he is an illegal immigrant (probably 60% chance in that area of Humble, Tx), then that adds another twist to this. Cartel ties (again possible) would add yet another dimension to it.
Anyway, perhaps governor's office should take a special interest in this case.
If the gun didn't jam, it could have been a far worse outcome.
Exactly fren...

I'm sure the media will label this as "White male Christian MAGA" violence.
Chase and caught WTF , should of been with self inflicted head wound
Reminds me of what happened in Idaho this summer with a guy starting a fire in the mountains only to lure firefighters there and shoot at them. There's too many of these similar stories coming out to just be classified a "random acts"
