An inordinate amount of human society has ultimately revolved around giving the Wealthy and to an extent people in general. Though the Super Wealthy in particular reasons to invest in their homelands and care about people who aren’t themselves. So they didn’t have time to turn into complete hedonists who were only after the next dopamine hit. And were instead occupied with building legacies and making their homelands strong. Not to say they didn’t overindulge in pleasures and fucked up shit. But they actually did stuff with their money outside of that.
The past century odd of philosophical and cultural development. Was largely focused around doing anything but that. While it calling it freedom and liberty. And unsurprisingly everything grew steadily worse throughout the 20th century culturally and socially.
