Yep. Nachmanoff clerked for a judge in 1995 and 1996 while Comey was in private practice until 1996. He was then in private practice as a public defender until 2002 when he went with his boss to the Federal Public Defender's office in Eastern District of VA. Comey's role at the EDVA was Managing AUSA. The Federal Defenders Office and the AUSA are different offices (with the same name, hence the confusion) and different sides of the law.
