Looks like it's a blue ray "special edition" thing.
Artists added that rabbit.
There was never a rabbit in the original release, other than on the girl's shoulder...it was released on both DVD and VHS originally.
Later DVD releases (not the first release) they may have altered the menu and added a rabbit for fanfare etc.

I see. I am happy with the matrix blu ray collection i have now. I could handle it as a trilogy, but not one with that last film which wrecked it all. I'm still trying to forget it.
