Military is guaranteed back pay.
Back pay.
As in, they aren't getting paid RIGHT NOW. Guess what? Bills wait for nobody. They keep coming in every month whether you have a paycheck coming in every month or not.
A lot of people can soak up one month of no pay and collect their back pay and everything will be fine. A lot of people will feel that sting for a month and be okay in the long run if that happens.
But what happens if this shutdown drags longer than last time because Democrats are so insane they just won't give in?
What happens when the military hasn't gotten a paycheck in 2, 3, 4 months?
Democrats have no idea what kind of pressure cooker they are heating up right now. The longer these people go without getting paid, the worse it's going to get - for Democrats.
Nothing will motivate them more to take action when ordered to do so than being 3 months behind bills having difficulty keeping things from going to collections. If the Democrats think they can starve out the military that way, they're in for a special kind of hell that they are really not prepared for.
That means they have about the same length as last shutdown to figure things out.
If they don't, things start to get really spicy real fast.
Let's see, will they recognize they're digging themselves deeper and stop?
Or dig in their heels and double down like morons?
Knowing leftists... I have a feeling this is gonna take a while.

So that was 5 weeks, 6 weeks and they miss a pay check. If it goes one week longer than last time, things start to heat up fast. At this point another unprecedentedly-long shutdown is not totally out of the realm of reality so we'll see.
You said:: ""What happens when the military hasn't gotten a paycheck in 2, 3, 4 months?""
The fact is that the U.S. Military has some really good LAWYERS, and they really enjoy playing with Corporations, Businesses, Companies and anyone else who makes Contracts with our Military....
Our Troops don't have to lose Cars Houses, and other things they buy....
All they need is to get JAG directly involved, and the Lawyers will tie things up for Months, they can extend a Divorce Proceeding for at least 1 Year, I had them do that for me and I was here, in CONUS, just imagine what they can do with a simple Contract to buy a Car, how about 3 Loan Companies that hold 500 Contracts with Military personnel all on the same base....
This is NOT a Worry Point IF, If, if, we can just get our Troops to talk to JAG, and for what it's worth, they could end up negotiating a much better contract with less Interest and a slightly lower payment....
Stop trying to SCARE PEOPLE, there are ways and means around this stupid shutdown...
I have no idea what any of this is supposed to mean.. Many live paycheck to paycheck if they have families
I don't think anything realistically is going to happen to the military. I think that realistically just the threat of that will force something to happen long before that.
