The US Senate was used for a bizarre ritual in which the Rev Sun Myung Moon, the head of the Unification church, was "crowned" and declared himself the messiah in the presence of more than a dozen Republican and Democratic members of Congress, it was reported yesterday.
Sun Myung Moon was "crowned" as the Messiah, Savior, and "True Parent" of humanity in a controversial ceremony that took place on March 23, 2004. The event, officially called a "Crown of Peace" banquet, was held in the Dirksen Senate Office Building in Washington, D.C., and was hosted by an affiliate of his Unification Church.
Sorry. Your first post left the impression this was "at the senate", which implied in the senate. No wonder we had never heard of it. It was billed as an award for peace presentation and this happened unannounced.

What gets me is on the surface the Unification church seems based and something i could align with, the whole acknowledgement of the jews needing to accept and repent for rejecting christ and being against homosexuality, pro-guns, but then they start to loose me with this whole "im the messiah, jesus sent me and talks only to me", arrange inter-cultural marriages, business.
