Medicaid money stopped going to illegal aliens on Oct 1st 2025.
I think hospitals realized what was coming.
I am the conspiracy minded type, and I believe the medical system has been robbing the federal government for years. I believe it is something that is not talked about in casual conversation but behind closed doors, hospital administrators encourage doctors to admit patients on Medicaid just so they can increase revenue.
If the patient comes in uninsured and is low income, the hospital often applies for Medicaid for the patient.
Typically, doctors would admit anyone for a couple night stay, regardless of the trivial health concern the patient came in with.
I work at a hospital in Michigan. Much of our client base has been middle eastern.
I was talking to a coworker Thursday night and I said, "Notice how quiet it has been around here for a few days?"
We didn't have any middle eastern patients in the 24 bed ICU where we are typically working. Census throughout the hospital has dropped off like a rock.
I think President Trump, in the long term, is resolving the fraud associated with the medical system and federal funds that was feeding it. Hopefully this will bring down medical and insurance costs for everyone. Hospitals and insurance companies will have to perform a workforce reduction, copying what is happening in our federal government, eliminating a few CEO's, to make ends meet. Over the last few years they have cut the workforce at the patient bedside. The next reduction will come from up the ladder.
As someone who works in the Welfare office, you are spot on! Anyone who comes into the hospital, illegal, legal or a citizen and says they can't pay automatically gets referred to the Welfare office for Medicaid. They may not necessarily get approved, but they are automatically referred.

I suspect you right about the fraud, but wow it's super good hearing an actual street report from someone in the trenches.
Thanks for that input mate.
