Fish & Wildlife come up with these estimates annually based on how many harvested animals are reported into the harvest log systems.
E.g. (insert whatever state) hunters telecheck 250k deer harvested = appx ~2.5 million deer estimated deer population for that state.
It's not a perfect system, big +/- point spread... but the F&W tend to lean conservative in their population estimates so the figures they put out are relatively good enough imo.
Unfortunately this picture shows 1990. What are the current numbers? But I wanna go hunting anyway lol

I have no problem with the system. I have my permit to hunt, and I have gone hunting. My question is about the image being 1990 not 2025.
I don't know but you can go outside and count them right now
Why should i go count the animals outside?
