Aben Mshiho Neman of Qarabashi wrote a memoir of the genocide of Christians in Turkey. This extermination campaign is to this day referred to as the Armenian Genocide, even though everyone knows the Assyrians and Greeks were also wiped out.

He wrote: “The Turks… asked the Kurds for support… and convinced their leaders that Christians are of no use and that they needed to be swept away from the face of the earth… they can make up hundreds of reasons; the most important of these being that since Christians are not Muslims they cannot be loyal to the state. Hence, Christians are traitors and collaborators— this the way they spoke of us, convincing themselves and others. … Knowledge about this is necessary and important, so that a similar tragedy does not repeat itself, be it here or elsewhere.” - from Sayfo, an Account of the Assyrian Genocide by Abed Mshiho Neman of Qarabash, p 72

We still live under the delusion that this was an “Armenian genocide” when the Armenians were just the largest of the Christian groups who were liquidated.

Calling it the ‘Armenian Genocide’ kept Christians from having to confront what really happened.
