You can't trust Geert Wilders. He kissed the ring in order to be in the government, and relinquished all he stood for.
Is that true?
Netherlands has proportional representation so the winning party does not automatically form the next government. The winning party needs to negotiate with the other parties, unless it gets a massive vote, so that it can form a government.
My understanding is that the opposition parties did not want Wilders in government so they made it a condition that the only way they would form a government was if Wilders was no in it. That is how it ended up.
Have I got that right?
Technically, how it should be working, yeah, that seems about right.
However, COVID turned everything upside down.
Consider this: It has been said for years, ex-PM Mark Rutte would go to NATO. That has been brewing since 2015. A decision was made.
2017: Rutte and his witch: Sigrid Kaag (D66), the latter party fought tooth and nail to get it, it is their crown jewel, overnight erased the right to a advisory and corrective referendum. They came to power due to a ploy with some Turkish minister and potential riots that could ensue. This brought Mark Rutte the election victory.
2017 - 2019: We already knew Covid was about to break. Increase in surveillance and alignment with NATO with a higher visibility of the Anti terrorism Coordinator ( NCTV) under the inspiring leadership of bureaucrat and salon socialist: Dick Schoof.
2020-2024: Playing the long game, Cabinet Rutte fell, and he simply said: Noe I am more powerful, and parliament can do nothing about it.
2023: PVV wins the elections, but surrenders all their stances on immigration, islamization, etc, etc,etc.
2025: Cabinet Dick Schoof falls. PVV moves out of the executive and into the lawmaking branch.
2020-2025: hundreds of laws are revised and new ones are added to enable more stringent crackdowns on dissenters, and basically more surveillance. Climate hoax, Green New Scam, Wind Mils & Solar, Gender madness, mass-immigration, the lot, continues unabated.
DE FACTO The Netherlands is a JUNTA NARCO STATE, ruled by spooks and EU part of NATO, with the appearance of being a democracy based on the rule of law and high respect for human rights.
