Insane. I had to find drone and satellite imagery to confirm what this guy is saying about the geometry of DC; that it's architecturally and geographically observable, documented and true before I could believe it. The fact that it's verifiable makes it very difficult for non believers like to me to digest.

It was built on a swamp. The roses roots were rotting from the moisture in the soil, the long over due to be removed crabapples, and the lawn was soggy.
This was built by a pre-eminant landscape artist, and the drainage field was dug down 4 feet.
It was as if it just couldn't work. Oh, and all the pretty pictures of tulips, etc? Plants were cycled in and out of there as they died.
