No, you’re right, and I could perhaps have used a better wording - “it’s very difficult and takes a lot of constant, active, intentional work”.
Maybe we’ll have a change and more people will be successful at it.
We are constantly building on the foundations that come before us. It's essentially a spiritual progression; God is not static, and his forward motion is always trained on the (His) goal. Our efforts are not wasted, and result in building a spiritual inertia that others can (and will) benefit from.
