All my children are adults now, mid 20's and 30's. Our rule was no cellphones until they were in college. That rule worked well for us. Now it seems like every child in middle school and high school has a cellphone with internet capabilities. I say that's insane.
Wow! Great parents should be a normal thing. There musta been some serious pushback from your kids, other parents with “what if there is an emergency” line.
I didn't have internet access myself until college. My friend had dial-up, but i had to wait until I could afford my own laptop and to borrow someone else's wifi

That's good parenting.. these days I see 5 y.o with their own ipads
And every child denied a phone makes friends with those who have a phone.
