FYI, ThΓ©oden is a fictional character in J. R. R. Tolkien's fantasy novel, The Lord of the Rings. I had to look it up I had never heard of this King.
Theoden King (the way he is addressed in the books) was king of the Rohan, the Celtic-like horse tribes who lived free in Middle-Earth.
In the film version: While arming up for a battle against the orcs, the Battle of Helm's Deep, Theoden King recites this poem:
Where is the horse and the rider?
Where is the horn that was blowing?
They have passed like rain on the mountain, like wind in the meadow.
The days have gone down in the West behind the hills into shadow.
How did it come to this?
Later, while watching as swarms of hideous vicious orcs march up to them, Theoden simply says, "And so it begins."
Theoden later leads his troops into battle and is killed, but the great evil attempting to take over Middle-Earth is defeated.
The books are wonderful but the movies are very very well done and well worth watching.
