How does sending it to a company instead help the whole? Are they not going to have costs and profits? Did the government administration not keep a cut for costs and grift?
IDK, it seems to me that if you give people of all classes this largess, they might have the tendency to go and blow the money on hookers and booze, instead of using it to pay for their healthcare.
How about cutting out Obamacare all together, tell people to get a job, and then pay for their healthcare premiums with the dollars they earn? Oh, you might say they cannot afford the premiums because of the prices of housing and groceries. Well, life was never meant to be full of daisies and lollypops. That is where our system of government comes into play. There might be a talented individual out there who, when elected, has a plan to help uninsured individuals WITHOUT having to tax anybody. I cannot say who that person might be or what the plan might entail, but in America nothing is impossible. Let's begin electing people who tell us what the entire plan is and not just tell us what the cute slogan tied a promised plan is.
We can do better. Gut Obamacare from American history, tell the insurance companies to fully explain why they need to charge so much for premiums, and if need be, have a public government sponsored insurance plan that everyone can participate in with a very minimal premium every month. If it kills off huge insurance companies, well so be it, they will either die on the vine or learn the hard way to lower their costs and up their coverage.
Off my soapbox now, so I guess some folks will say my idea is a "Obamacare lite" idea. So be it. If the government can make premiums ten bucks a month with full coverage and zero deductible, I'd be all for hearing about that plan.

I had a girlfriend that was in a car accident. Her insurance covered up to $5000 for physical therapy, it ran out pretty quick.
She then started to self-pay and we asked if there was any way to get the price down.
One example was the hot/cold pack that they put on at the end of the session.
Insurance price was $86.00 and self-pay was $19.00. And they used the same pack over and over.
What an incredible scam. 🙄
