Hemp Provision in Spending Bill Could Kill Legit Industry
(Can't SCOTUS declare this unconstitutional?)
The hemp industry is gearing up for a lobbying effort following a provision in the recent government funding package meant to stop the sale of intoxicating hemp products but could inadvertently destroy a legitimate $28 billion industry and kill 300,000 American jobs.
Hemp and Cannabis are two classifications, I read that Michigan is going to just regulate the hemp industry, with the Cannabis industry. What they want to regulate is not the "normal" weed that you can get at a dispensary in legal states. The thc hemp is a synthetic product, I think its called delta 9 or something like that, the damn ads for it popped up on my FB feed. I asked them if it was real cannabis or the synthetic stuff and the did not answer. Through some process they add the thc, or chemically change the hemp to enhance it. I would not use it myself, and I am a cannabis user, grower, etc. So its the beverages and tinctures that they sell which will be controlled or banned. This is a good thing. Vermont is a legal state, has brougnt in millions, its been found if a liquor store and a dispensary are on the same block, or next to each other, liquor sales go way down. Thats a good thing, y'all.
THCA is a precursor chemical to THC/Delta 9 THC. It deteriorates/changes into the more psychoactive chemicals over time/when burned. This requires hemp growers to maintain the plant in a higher state of quality. It's actually legitimately higher quality and safer.
Delta 8, HHC, etc are semi synthetic hemp derived cannabinoids, and typically were coated onto buds. This has been supplanted mostly by THCA and the various semi-synthetic chemicals are used in vapes/edibles/extracts mostly now.
Street Weed is becoming increasingly dangerous, as cartels ARE DEFINITELY lacing it with deadly and addictive chemicals. My son overdosed on laced shit a few months ago. He's okay. Anyone who is okay with the government ripping open a gaping hole for the black market to fill again is an idiot.
I am honestly thoroughly disgusted with this. Why the fuck are we okay with Republicans jamming pork fat into this resolution? We'd be bitching if democrats did something like this. What the hell does a hemp ban have to do with keeping the government running?
That's not the only pork shoved it, there's something in there about letting Congress critters who have phones seized during legal subpoenas sue for massive amounts of cash iirc. Probably more that hasn't been seen yet.
I think this is a misinterpretation. From the article 2 days ago. Quote from end of article……. “The regulated cannabis industry can now get back to normalizing cannabis without all the bad actors and criminals taking advantage of the Farm Bill loophole,” May want to see how this shakes out?
Thanks for that info.

All they did was protect the profits of alcohol companies, they lobbied congress with 30 million dollars to get this ban in. The way it's written is utterly destructive.
Maybe the SCOTUS throws a bone to the libs every once in a awhile a part of the plan?
