I don't like to be that guy but, since this whole Great Awakening is about truth, isn't it time we stop lying about Santa to kids and instead focus on the reason for the season: Jesus Christ? You can still spoil children with gifts if you wish but why do it just to keep a pointless lie alive for the sake of "the magic of Christmas?" Is Christ's divine birth from a virgin not magical enough for people? I have been anti-Santa for a while and this train has no brakes. Thank you for attending my TEDTalk.
When my grandkids were 4 and 6, they got up early Christmas morning, tip toed down stairs and opened every gift , including those for everyone else. My son said he cried and he has never been the crying sort. Never. The next year, they hung loud bells on the kid's doors.

My DIL is a very calm sort. My son I understood. One of the very best moments of parenthood is the wonder of Christmas morning. And he missed it.
