Strawberries grown and picked from berry farms here are red inside at prime harvesting time. They are flavorful but do not stay firm more than a few days. Making jam or freezing preserves all that goodness!
I assumed that the berries I buy (rarely) at the grocery store that comes from other states were white inside because they were picked before they were fully ripe to accomodate shipping. Not flavorful although the outsides are a beautiful red. Buy local or grow your own are the only ways to go!
