Doesn’t really work with no king, when there’s a Supreme Court to settle interstate disputes - once we get our whole setup fixed and running right again, that is.
Yes, hard to imagine. Many of those countries in modern Europe only had figurehead monarchs if they had one. They don't get along. I don't mind our forces being there to keep an eye on them and for our own strategic interests. But I certainly don't want to be paying the lion's share to keep them in check.
