There was a lot of things about the war in Iraq that were not good, but it is no use pretending that stabilizing the Middle East was not necessary. Iraq was building weapons of mass destruction. They had long range missiles, uranium enrichment facilities, and large quantities of nerve gas. Securing oil reserves and supply lines is absolutely critical to the US, and even more so in the 2000s. This opinion is unpopular around here, but the truth often is. President Trump helped Israel bomb Iran to prevent them from building a nuclear bomb. No one complained about that. The elites made massive profits from the war on terrorism, but don't be deceived, we were, and still are, very much in a war against global terrorism. These wars are only "useless" if you're OK with pulling everything back and letting China dominate global politics. You think we have issues with the global elites in the US, let me tell you, it is 100x worse in China.
STABILIZING the Middle East? Are we living in the same reality?! Brother, we were propagandized into destroying the middle east to piss off the Muslims then import them here so the Muslims and Christians would kill each other. Every member of Congress who supported the war should be hung.
The US runs on fossil fuels (something the left likes to forget). Even though we (now) can produce a lot of fossil fuels, this wasn't the case in the early 2000s, and even then, it still is much cheaper to import and refine from the Middle East since most of our refineries are geared towards processing that oil. Stability in the Middle East means stability for the US. We can't just abandon it. Also, the Muslims were already pissed off, and nothing we did out there changed any of that. In fact, it brought the battlefield there, instead of it being here, like it was on 9/11. Don't buy into all the isolationist garbage, unless you want to become a second tier country (like Canada) and surrender global hegemony to China. Like it or not, we are the world police, and it is our duty and right to enforce law and order on the rest of the world.
Good goy. Continue to believe the official report on 9/11. Our children should continue to die for foreign affairs that have nothing to do with us. Awesome 😎 👍
