Let's be real... USB-C IS 100% the better charger and will be the future for all ports. No more USB-A charging phone, tablet, laptop no longer need different chargers. I see this as an absolute win
Of all the bad stuff they have been doing, this barely makes the cut. USB-C is miles better than any of the other proprietary cough lightning cough charging standards out there. The cable is standard with no DRM chips.
Not to mention the fact that the newer chargers can output 240 watts through that little cable. With the right power brick, you could even charge an e-bike or power a decent gaming laptop with it. I would be absolutely thrilled to charge my smartphone and e-bike with one charger. And it's bidirectional - my bike could charge my phone if it had the proper power electronics in it.
The real problem is all the environmental regulations that incentivize the creation of cheap junk that fails after a year or two, regardless of the type of charger. Pumping an assload of CO2 into the air to make 1.2% more efficient appliances that fail after 24 months is nowhere close to "green".

You can also plug stuff in in the dark.
