This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an integral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on its evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.

What's the current thought on the "Scouts"? Are there better organizations for young people to be in?
Look into Trail Life and American Heritage Girls. These were split offs from BS and GS that intend to be what the original Scouts groups were supposed to be.
the woke crowd ruined it thoroughly by letting abusers take positions of leadership, ruining thousands of boys & young men’s lives.
Next, to be “inclusive” they change the name to Scouting America. I just don’t want to provide the link.
So once the woke crowd is routed and however # million invaders are sent home, we could have the Boy Scouts of America officially rechartered appropriately.
Awanas is a boys & girls club, largely conservative Baptist. I volunteered for a year in college as part of community service requirement. https://clubs.awana.org/
Christian Service Brigade (CBS) is for boys and young men. Pioneer Girls became at some point Pioneer Club for boys and girls, kind of lame imo, when it was for Girls only I had a few classmates who were in it and one’s mother was a local leader
With CBS we did camping skills, basic wood working skills (pinewood derby pine wood crafted small cars about 9” long for racing down ramp track, the girls got to make small boats that would float down water- filled tracks, blown by medium-power fans). I don’t believe there area any woke crowd with CBS or Awanas.

CBS, we got lessons and earned patches, I remember sailing, it was fun. Capture the Flag, dodgeball, character building lessons. My Scottish-visiting group leader visiting in the States was a good guy, Alan P. He taught computers & basic programming (coding)
