I could never get 20. Best I could do was always 18. And even then it wasn’t consistently. 16-18 was always my max. Depending on how tired I already was. Eventually tho I got some sort of nerve damage, I’m thinking from a blood test needle or something in my arm. Shortly afterwards, of a blood test(routine 6month stuff), I started have jetting pain down my arm when doing pull ups. Chin ups didn’t seem to hurt as bad but was still there. It sucked. Eventually I had to stop all together. Used to love doing pull ups.
I remember in the army, we had a horizontal ladder outside the mess hall. If we were earlier, everyone had to go back and forth, then do 10 pull ups before going in.
