I am suprised so many are in a single town of Utah county (there are only three cities/towns listed for Utah County). Provo had 1 (expected more), Orem had 1 (would have expected similar to other cities in Utah County) and Spanish Fork had about a dozen.
I was amazed they were all in Spanish Fork, maybe there is something to the theroy that city officials are controlled by illegals out there.
Hurricane would have been considered a small town 10 years ago, not sure how much it has grown, but I know it has. Hurricane had lots of arrests as well.
I was wondering if the jail location was what was listed until I saw Sunset & another location that made me think it is more likely the aressting location. The county jail for Utah county is in Spanish Fork, though there is no jail in Provo or Orem IIRC. All those who go to jail (vs holding cell) end up in Spanish Fork at Utah county jail for the entire county.
It makes me wonder what is going on in Spanish Fork? Why are similar numbers arrested in Payson, Springville, Lehi, American Fork, etc...
Many in Salt Lake, and I wondered if that was because Salt Lake County polices for the whole county (not a city service, but handled by the county for almost every city, called Unified Police). Then I saw Millcreek (spelled wrong in the list) which is in the middle of Salt Lake County, and West Valley is also in Salt Lake.
I wasn't suprised to see so many listed from West Valley, it is the rough area of Salt Lake County.
Still I am very suprised with the ratio of arrests in Spanish Fork. I wonder if the local airport has anything to do with the number of illegal immigrants here. Very suprised Springville doesn't have more with the drug problems the city had in the 90s.
Just wondering if anyone else notices hubs, cities, groups or data in their states that are weird.
We grew up near Buffalo so used that for the search term. Arrests across NYS came up. Alden, NY has a ton of them…a little town east of Buffalo. Same question you had came up, why so many in an out of the way backwater type town??
