Kilmar Abrego Garcia was released from the Moshannon Valley Processing Center in Pennsylvania on December 11, 2025, following a federal court order. He is expected to return to Maryland, where he has family, including his American wife and child. His release was ordered by U.S. District Judge Paula Xinis, who ruled that his detention by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) was without lawful authority due to the absence of a valid removal order. While he is free for now, his legal team anticipates potential future efforts by the government to deport him
