Does anyone know if it's true that, at the time he jumped the gunman, were there cops already on-site & hiding behind the cars doing nothing? I read it somewhere, but might have been bs.
Cops were everywhere but they were concentrated toward the bridge where the terrorists were positioned. The father left that bridge and went down into the parkland beside the beach where the festival was taking place. He was positioned beside a tree firing when the Aussie Hero came up behind him, tackled the gun off him and the coward fled back towards the bridge where he rejoined the son.
The police shot him dead on the bridge and the son was shot not long after. Police and public swarmed onto the bridge with one guy stomping on the head of the son who was still alive. While a few have complained that Police were not quick to act, they didnβt know how many shooters and there were thousands of people - 2000 on the nearby park at the festival and down on the beach only several yards between where thousands were also. The areas are separated by a concrete path and wall. The famous Bondi Rescue lifesavers were also assisting but the last I heard was apart from those killed on the park, 38 were transported to hospital with 11 in a critical condition. Police quickly killed the terrorists on the bridge but with people running in all directions, they couldnβt do much until they got an idea of what was happening. I think that drones were used to establish where the terrorists were as there are large pine trees in that area and it would be too dangerous bringing in a helicopter. I believe the police helicopter was much higher up.

We are hearing that another older couple who had just arrived at the beach, saw the older terrorist and tackled him, dislodging his gun. They were near the bridge where the son was shooting. Havenβt heard who shot them, but either the son or father shot and killed both. They died in each others arms. They were the first to be killed. So, so sad today.
