They want your current devices to become obsolete so that they can, over time, inundate you with bullshit you didn't want. With each new "update" comes more spyware, more integration, less control for you, more for them. They know you would never go for a complete transparent agenda of what they want you to use. so they force it on you bit by bit and hope you don't notice or care.
Open systems become locked down cages that you have to be a tech genius to unlock.
This is by design, to keep you routed into whatever the fuck they want you in, and out of what they want you away from.
The Windows right-click menu gave us too much power, obviously. So Microsoft had to turn those bullets into nerf darts.
The pattern is everywhere, the cringe is high.
I recently connected an older laptop to the internet, briefly. It lagged like a fucking bitch, and it wasn't laggy before connecting. It is now unstable as can be, even disconnected.
Microsoft nuked my shit at first chance they got. And YES I had automatic updates disabled and a host of other crap. I might as well have been in the passanger seat with one of those kiddy steering wheels this whole time.
Forget archive offline, STAY OFFLINE, at least on one dedicated device that you use for specific, unmonitored activities.
This is the pinnacle of bullshit. Taxpayer-funded startup Big Tech "companies" sending kill-switches into our outdated, NON-SKYNET COMPATABLE devices.
UPGRADE YOUR PC TODAY! GET UNLIMITED INTEGRATED AI SPYWARE FOR $99 A MONTH PLEB, OH YOU HAVE TO BE ONLINE 24/7 WITH ID CHECK TO USE IT BTW AND YOUR OLDER DEVICES THAT DONT HAVE THE ABILITY TO RUN OUR SPYWARE WILL DIE AS SOON AS YOU CONNECT TO THE TAXPAYER FUNDED INTERNET.
OH, YOU LIKE SCROLLING YOUTUBE VIDEOS THE SIZE OF PROFILE PICS WITH LONG TITLES AND VIEW COUNTS NEXT TO THEM BEFORE YOU CLICK THEM, SO YOU CAN EASILY SCAN YOUR FEED AND DECIDE WHAT YOU WANT TO CLICK? NAHBRO, WHAT YOU NEED IS GIGANTIC SCREEN-SIZED THUMBNAILS SO THAT YOU ARE FORCED TO WEAR YOUR THUMB OUT OR ELSE JUST CLICK THE FIRST THINGS WE SHOW YOU. TOO MUCH POWER IN SMALL THUMBNAILS.
everything tech related is turning to totally avoidable dogshit right before our eyes. You'd think it was on purpose if you weren't retarded?
(nsfw flair in case Tim Walz lurks the board)
I did a quick search and it looks like UE5 and FL Studio can be run on Linux. UE5 can be run native but you'll have to find a distro that supports it. Alternatively you can compile it yourself but it takes 4-5hrs. I believe Arch Linux and distros based on it like CachyOS, EndeavorOS, Manjaro etc. will support it. For FL Studio, there are guides on Youtube to get it working. I saw a comment saying DaVinci Resolve was easy to get running on an Arch based distro as well (just had to install a package).
If your PC is powerful enough, maybe test install some distros on a virtual machine to play around and see what you can get working. Virtualbox is good and it's free to use. Also window's built-in VM solution would probably work fine.. HyperX or something? Been a decade for me. lol This way you can see what you like while keeping a working PC. You can even check if your chosen distro will work ok on your hardware by setting up a USB drive installer and booting off of that. You will get a full desktop with browser to test that your internet connection works etc.
Another option would be to install Virtualbox on Linux and then create a Windows 10 VM. Then you could just install your windows apps in there. Not sure if latency would be an issue for FL Studio though.
I've seen hoards of angry Windows users showing up in popular Linux channels lately asking what distro to install. Microsoft really screwed the pooch with Windows.
Virtual machines are slow, especially on older hardware. Pro audio on virtual boxes is a nightmare. If you need windows I'd go with a dual boot setup, even then, Windows is gett9ng worse by the hour.
I'd bite the bullet and switch to linux software wherever possible, it's better anyway. And free. Free as in freedom, and as in no bills.
Linux virtual machine is near native performance, using tiny 10 or 11 I do not notice any lag if the machine has 8 to 16 GB ram assigned.
