So yesterday (Saturday), here in east Tennessee, I went to a small one-man business that deals mostly with music, instrument repairs, and used instruments. As a musician I play several different instruments, and this guy is an expert on one particular instrument, which will be nameless for the purposes of this post. His shop is in a different town, about a 20 minute drive from where I live.
As context, I am a rather hard-right, conservative person, and keep most of my more extreme views concealed (as was the .45 carry piece I had on me at the time), so I don't air my politics in public... I'm just tired of the futile debates with the Left, who are essentially morons with no critical thinking skills.
After discussing some technical aspects of this instrument, the chat wandered to cost of materials related to musical instruments... exotic woods, strings, labor, which instruments are better, German, French, or (more lately) Chinese.
Then the subject turned to the wild fluctuations of silver and gold (sometimes used in ornamentation on instruments).
Without missing a beat, the dude said, "Oh that's just so Trump can get more money."
.... WHUT?! I was rather taken aback by such a stupid statement that I asked him to repeat it. And he did. The man is brilliant when it comes to instrument repair and a knowledge base about instruments that I don't have.
But really? The rising price of silver and gold is... BECAUSE TRUMP WANTS MORE MONEY?! I just let it drop, no amount of reason or knowledge of the precious metals market, or common sense in general, would have gotten through to him.
Are all TDS sufferers this blind to reality?
Side note, leaving that other town I passed a demonstration on a sidewalk that I had to pass, about 100 people or so, with "NO KINGS" signs and other examples of TDS. They waved at me as I drove by, but I just lifted my middle finger salute to them and drove on.
So all in all, I had a full-on display of TDS yesterday.
The left have been fed the class warfare theme, and Bernie brought it to a head. President Trump is an easy target because of this. The average Democrat cannot see what elitism is clearly. they assume if you are wealthy, you are that way because of screwing over workers. They do not see it when a so called "progressive" company is doing the same thing. If an elitist dresses himself up with words like diversity and equality, environment, tolerance, etc, suddenly his wealth is well earned, and, therefore, a good thing, and therefore, is not an elitist anymore. It is a culture war and a language war, and facts be damned. The people I know who call themselves progressive and liberal are the most elitist people I know. Their clothing is expensive, they are status minded, and look down on the person who is not wearing certain clothes, does not read certain books, or listen to NPR. Not one of them can name a working class person as their friend, the girl working at the Dollar General is not on their guest list, but a trust fund baby who decides to open a cheese factory, on government grants, mind you, is a sought after guest at their bbq. Never mind that no one who works and lives around here can't afford their award winning cheese. Never mind the guy who trucked for Cabot Cheese worked till his pension was ready at retirement. The same liberal who opened up their property as a Air BnB place, is weeping over the homeless and swearing at landlords who do not want to rent their places to welfare recipients. Driving Volvos with Bernie stickers on them. Their hypocrisy should be challenged with these facts. Compassion for poor people is a good thing, it is said in the Bible. But also Jesus had a lot to say about hypocrisy, about virtue signaling. That is what they do, virtue signal. It is all due to social engineering, which began with the early Gallup polls. The pearl clutching should be taken with a grain of salt, it is shallow. I forgive them because they really are sheep. Now the President is not everyones cup of tea, and I get that. But he is far from an elitist, always has been. .
It is maddening that they don't/can't/won't see the hypocrisy in themselves.
