Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an integral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on its evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.
Rules for General Chat
-
Be respectful to each other. This is of utmost importance, and comments may be removed if deemed not respectful.
-
Avoid long drawn out arguments. This should be a place to relax, not to waste your time needlessly.
-
Personal anecdotes, puzzles, cute pics/clips - everything welcome
-
Please do not spam at the top level. If you have a lot to post each day, try and post them all together in one top level comment
-
Try keep things light. If you are bringing in deep stuff, try not to go overboard.
-
Things that are clearly on-topic for this board should be posted as a separate post and not here (except if you are new and still getting the feel of this place)
-
If you find people violating these rules, deport them rather than start a argument here.
-
Feel free to give feedback as these rules are expected to keep evolving
In short, imagine this thread to be a local community hall where we all gather and chat daily. Please be respectful to others in the same way
Rules For the rest of the Site also accessible on the sidebar.

Anyone had the current plague that’s going around? I pray you haven’t and don’t. My husband started feeling bad Christmas Eve night & by Christmas Day he was in full blown cough, fever, chills, congestion. I’m pumping him with meds & herbs. So far I’m good but don’t know the incubation period. A couple weeks before Christmas he said people were sick at work.
He’s not interested, but I’m eating horse paste. I was surprised to find out it doesn’t taste bad. Cough medicine is worse than ivermectin (the cream type). I bought it for rosacea because the doctor prescribed it. My part after insurance $300.00. So I’m a regular at Rural King. I was ordering on chewy until they sent me the ivermectin with a Vaseline type texture. They gave me a refund but now how to use it? It tastes awful! Too gunky for my face.
A while back I read a comment here someone put it on back pain and the pain was instantly better. I put it across my lower back. I’ve had pain there a long time with disc injury, nerve and muscle pain. Pain immediately went away. I had bad pain below the application area but not across lower back above hips. It has lasted over twelve hours.. I think I’ll blend with lotion so it’s not sticky feeling.
Here’s a video I watched recently about Comfrey. I knew the basics but didn’t know “they” wiped the history away and tried to get rid of the plant. It’s very interesting and saddening how long they have tried to make us sick.
Comfrey: This Plant Replaces All Fertilizer FOREVER. Why Did the FDA Ban It?
This account has a lot of similar information. In the 1960s, British trials documented something impossible: 100 tons per acre, year after year, from a plant that decomposes in 48 hours and requires zero inputs. Then in 2001, it vanished from every garden center in America.
This is the story of comfrey, the biological fertilizer factory that threatened a $230 billion industry, and the systematic campaign to erase it from public memory.
I’ve been researching and learning what’s in our (America) food over the past twelve years & I didn’t know what is shared in the video below. I’m not surprised, just didn’t expect this. If you don’t want to watch: basically they have figured out when we don’t chew food it’s as satisfying to us, it tricks our brain into thinking we are not full. Think about all the soft plant based protein bars that’s on the market over the past ten years, all are soft. I love them but don’t eat them anymore because I finally figured out they were full of sugar and seed oils. The other info is the sound food makes is another marketing thing. Sorry I don’t remember what it’s called in marketing terms. Basically it’s the snap, crackle and pop of rice crispy cereal. Popping and sounds of a drink can and more.
Why can't we stop eating certain foods? - BBC
Something happened to our food in the mid-70s to make it irresistible to people. Why are ultra-processed foods so irresistible, and how they have come to dominate food culture? This documentary by medical doctor and academic Dr Chris van Tulleken features interviews with former food industry insiders who talk openly about the way in which popular foods have been designed to be irresistible.
Stay well & warm frens.
I had a flu type something a couple months ago. My 10 year old has had hand, food, and mouth virus (2nd time). Nephews have had strep and some weird stomach virus. Many friends have or have had a flu type something.
Hope everyone gets well soon.
Same around my area lots of people are getting sick. But it’s normal this time of year. I remember when my daughter was in elementary and hand foot mouth virus was going around. I had never heard of it before then (mid 90s). Hoping your family stays well. So far my husband is the only one with serious virus. I’m seeing post on local Facebook groups and local news flu or flu like virus is going around. My daughter works at local clinic, she’s out on maternity leave. Her coworkers are saying the people with mild symptoms have Covid or flu. People with multiple symptoms are testing negative for everything. I’m pretty sure hubby caught it at work. My granddaughter had 101 temp & stuffy nose less than 24 hours. She’s not vaccinated and she normally doesn’t have the full blown virus like we get.
So sorry your hubby has been sick. I’m convinced everytime the sky is full of chemtrails, within a day or two everybody is sick. I’ve gotten to where everytime I see a plane throwing it across the sky, I point my finger at it and rebuke every intention it has to harm people, animals and our food. I have to say I love the apple flavored horse paste. I could eat it like popcorn💁♀️ but I don’t.
Hey chick, I hope you had a Merry Christmas. I don’t see the crisscross chemtrails like many speak of. Guess they know we have enough poison being sprayed by the farmers. I’m doing plain ivermectin that’s cream like. I can’t describe the taste. It’s kinda tart. So far I haven’t gotten sick. I’ve been very careful. I’ve only hugged him for the back and touched top of head. We were in the car today and it’s odd not holding hands. But nope, I’m not trying to get sick. He’s been the sickest I’ve ever seen him. I think he’s finally on the mend. I don’t have to rush to drink something to wash away the taste. I’m using the one that’s gel like on wounds and chronic pain areas. That claims to be flavored, nope just yuck. I’d hate to be force fed that. I got four so I may as use it. It really does numb the pain for about 24 hours time. Lidocaine doesn’t last that long. Take care fren.
I did have a good Christmas. It was relaxing and calm this year. My mama is doing great at 84 and the grandboys are the light of my life. I’ve been well and healthy. God is good.
Great to hear. Blessings to you and family.
I have such thick comfrey plants! They would take over if I let them. I give the plants away, as they will sprout from any decent root segment. we make salve, a cup of comfrey root tea is very good for coughs, just the smashed up root raw, placed on a wound will help heal it. I have used it on bedsores of people I have cared for, miraculous skin healing. The leaves used as mulch is a great way to get cal/mag into the soil. My son brews a "tea" from it in 5 gallon buckets, then bottles it, and sells it at the farmers market as a "green manure tea" fertilizer, and my goats scarf it down when let out to do weed wacking and trimming. It is also an amazing food for bees, the plants when in bloom buzz with it. 40 years ago I planted some seeds, now it fills in so many spots on my land. It can become invasive. the roots know no bounds, and it grows on the worst soil, always making it better.
I am going to buy some seeds and start growing some for my family too. Thanks for the inspiration!
I need to get seeds and plant some. It sounds like a miracle plant for sure. Thanks for sharing all the ways to use it.
