A worse aspect of the sequel was the relentless comparison of the Roman Empire to the USA especially regarding slavery. It’s quite goofy in light of what we’ve learned about slavery in the Americas: that most slave ships and slave auctions were owned by jews, that about 25% of jews in the American south owned slaves which was more than ten times the slave-owning rate of white gentiles in the south, that rabbis such as Michelbacher claimed that slavery was ordained by God, and that slavery was ended by Christians, mostly white.
