Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an integral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on its evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.
Rules for General Chat
-
Be respectful to each other. This is of utmost importance, and comments may be removed if deemed not respectful.
-
Avoid long drawn out arguments. This should be a place to relax, not to waste your time needlessly.
-
Personal anecdotes, puzzles, cute pics/clips - everything welcome
-
Please do not spam at the top level. If you have a lot to post each day, try and post them all together in one top level comment
-
Try keep things light. If you are bringing in deep stuff, try not to go overboard.
-
Things that are clearly on-topic for this board should be posted as a separate post and not here (except if you are new and still getting the feel of this place)
-
If you find people violating these rules, deport them rather than start a argument here.
-
Feel free to give feedback as these rules are expected to keep evolving
In short, imagine this thread to be a local community hall where we all gather and chat daily. Please be respectful to others in the same way
Rules For the rest of the Site also accessible on the sidebar.

Has anyone been having headaches lately? Like the last few weeks?
My family has been having headaches off and on for a few weeks now, and don't know what's causing them all of a sudden. Some are migraines and some are just headaches with some feeling like they are coming from the back of our necks. It's weird because we are all having them not just one of us. And sometimes they upset our stomach's if the headache is bad (which can be normal with a migraine).
Check for Radon - don’t know where you live, but it is common in some areas.
Live in Alabama, but we were also visiting Fl, had headaches in both states. Found Alabama site that tells which counties have the highest to lowest rate of radon, thankfully we are in the lowest potential of experiencing radon, also checked Fl map and same with the area we were visiting at the time. Thank goodness!!
That’s good - glad you don’t have radon problem.
I never get headaches and my skull and ears hurt.
Yesterday my ears were hurting also but not today. And I’ve been super tired lately, but I don’t get good nights sleep. But some days lately I feel like I can barely stay awake. I do have Meniere’s, so I’m wondering if that could be a reason (?), just without the other symptoms 🤷♀️
Ove been sleepy all the time.
I am. Also my sleep is terrible. Ive never slept bad before.
I take two Magnesiium gummies Magnesium Citrate, it works so well, even though I doubted that it would, I chew some at around 10 30 at night, can't stay awake past 11, I get a good solid 6-7 hours. If I sleep for 8hrs or longer, its a sure sign I am coming down with something. You may want to give it a try. If you live in the States, I use Natures Made Magnesium Gummies, . Melatonin just makes me feel weird and gives me that twilight sleep that leaves you exhausted.
Ya, I've used em. They work. They aren't helping this.
My sleep is always terrible unfortunately 😏 I wish I could get a good nights sleep.
Magnesium oil - rub in the soles of your feet, helps you sleep.
Hmm, thanks I will try it.
I do think I have sleep apnea, though I don't think that's the only problem of not having quality sleep. I just absolutely hate to go to the doctor about it. I just don't trust them anymore, and since I haven't been in to see the doc in years, she will want to take my blood and who knows what else before she will help me with anything. That's what she did last time I went. Last blood work everything was in normal range, except my cholesterol was slightly elevated, and they acted like I was on deaths door 🙄and needed cholesterol meds. Nope, didn't even bother answering them back or been back in office since then.
Check for a carbon monoxide leak !
For one we don’t have a gas stove or fireplace, secondly we had them at home and while we were out of town during Christmas. But that’s a good reason if we had gas appliances. We only have electric.
May need to drink more fluids. It's been a dry winter in some areas.
Yeah could be. I know I’ve been drinking less water lately, don’t know why but just forgetting I guess 🤷♀️ And one day my husband and myself had dry throat all day, no matter how much we drank, we were still thirsty. It’s so weird that we both we like that at the same time. It was just the one day, though I don’t remember if we had headaches on that day.
Could also try running a humidifier at night
