Depending on what setting you have it set to, if it was to "Community Styling: On", which had all of the CSS styling like different fonts, color of font, Pepe the frog icons, etc that's different from your usual HTML appearance.
If you had "Community Styling: Off", everything is bland, a la HTML appearance, no fancy makeup to the site and no banner picture. You can even downvote the post itself, as opposed to when Community Styling is on, where you only can upvote the post.
It was "OFF" for some time today until just now with u/bubble_bursts announcing that they have fixed the CSS styling, which should look like as if "Community Styling" is turned back on.
If you had Community Styling set to off, that would explain why everything looked "the same" to you, while it was not for many others, myself included. If not, you probably just got online around the same time CSS has been fixed/restored.
Funny, it looks the same as always to me. Have I been missing something all along? Serious.

It wasn't actually the setting itself, but rather the stylesheet associated with the community setting was erroring.
